    MitID signing

MitID signing is digital signature where the signer's identity is verified with the Danish MitID. It produces an audit trail with timestamp and verified identity, and carries the same legal effect as a wet signature. In car retail it is used for sales contracts, leasing contracts, service agreements and loan-car agreements.

The practical gain is not legal, it is time. A contract can be sent at 16:00 and signed at 16:05, without the customer coming to the showroom.

It also changes follow-up: the system knows which documents were sent and not signed, which is a far better task list than a pile on a desk.

From a security perspective, identity verification is the point. A scanned signature does not document who signed.
