DMS (Dealer Management System)
A DMS is the dealership's operational system. It typically covers vehicle stock, purchasing and sales bookkeeping, workshop orders, parts, warranty claims and posting to the accounting system. A DMS is built around the vehicle and the finances, not the customer, and therefore rarely contains lead, campaign or follow-up functionality.
Put simply: the DMS knows what the car cost, what it sold for, and what the workshop spent on it. It rarely knows who asked about it three weeks ago and never got a reply.
That is why many dealers run a DMS and a CRM side by side. The problem only appears when the two do not talk, and the car has to be created twice.
An integration between DMS and CRM should at minimum sync stock and sold status, so a salesperson does not advertise a car that is gone.
In CARRUSLiNK
CARRUSLiNK integrates with the DMS and pulls stock and status, instead of requiring the dealer to replace their operational system.
