CRM for car dealers
A CRM for car dealers is a customer system where the industry's own objects are built in: vehicle, lead, test drive, sales contract, trade-in, service agreement and leasing contract. It differs from a generic CRM by knowing vehicle data, portals and registries, so the salesperson does not have to build the process from scratch.
A generic CRM can be configured for car sales, but it knows nothing about registration numbers, VINs, margin-scheme VAT or contract expiry. The result is fields with the wrong names and a process nobody follows.
The industry-specific requirement is that a registration-number lookup pulls the vehicle data, that a sales contract can be signed, and that leasing contracts carry an expiry date that triggers action.
A dealer CRM does not necessarily replace a DMS. The two solve different problems: the DMS runs the vehicle, the accounts and the workshop; the CRM runs the customer and the sale.
