    Trade-in

A trade-in is the customer's current car, taken by the dealer as part payment for the new one. The dealer assesses condition, mileage, history and market price, sets a trade-in value and offsets it in the deal. The trade-in immediately becomes the dealer's next stock unit.

A trade-in is both a sales tool and a purchase. Value it too high and the margin on the deal disappears; value it too low and the sale goes to the dealer offering a bit more.

What decides the outcome is how fast the appraisal can be made, and whether it rests on real data: registry data, service history, inspection reports and realised market prices rather than gut feeling.

The trade-in is also a lead. The customer handing over a car today is the customer who changes car again in three to four years, and the incoming car must be stocked, prepared and advertised within days.

CARRUSLiNK pulls registry data on the trade-in from the VIN, keeps the appraisal on the deal, and creates the car as stock with a preparation task once the contract is signed.
