    How the DMR integration works in CARRUSLiNK — delivered via Synsbasen

    DMR (The Digital Motor Register) is the Danish Motor Vehicles Agency's central register for all vehicles in Denmark. It is the cornerstone of any car dealership's data foundation, but DMR access alone is not enough — a salesperson also needs inspection data, tax information, lien details, and ownership history to trade with open eyes.

    CARRUSLiNK provides DMR lookups through Synsbasen's combined API, with which we have integrated. This is the same partner behind the inspection data integration, and the advantage is obvious: one technical integration point, five public authority sources. You get everything on the vehicle card in one lookup — without having to enter into separate agreements with the Danish Motor Vehicles Agency, the Danish Road Safety Agency, the Land Registry, and skat.dk individually.

    Why we chose Synsbasen as a supplier

    Synsbasen is an official Danish data provider that has built a comprehensive API for all vehicle authority data on top of the Danish Road Safety Agency's inspection data: DMR from the Danish Motor Vehicles Agency, inspections from the Danish Road Safety Agency, taxes from skat.dk, and liens from the Land Registry. This means we can pull five data sources through one technical endpoint — and that you, as a dealer, get lawful, updated, and auditable access without having to maintain authority agreements yourselves.

    In practice, analytics show that a large proportion of vehicle lookups made in CARRUSLiNK come via the DMR field — even though the user actually receives inspection data, tax information, and lien details in addition. This is because DMR lookup is the habit salespeople have. We have chosen to embrace that habit: you type into the DMR field, we fetch the rest in the background.

    What you specifically get from DMR

    From the Motor Register, we retrieve all technical basic data: make, model, variant, first registration, fuel type, engine volume, power output, weight, wheelbase, EURO standard, and type approval. This is the foundation that populates the entire vehicle card — and drives the ad text, price analysis, and contract.

    We also retrieve ownership history: number of owners, type (private/commercial), dates of ownership changes, and the car's current status (on the road, deregistered, exported). This is especially important for purchasing and trade-ins — a car with 7 owners in 5 years needs to be priced differently from a car with 1 owner.

    Inspection history from the Danish Road Safety Agency

    The entire inspection history — periodic inspections, re-inspections, special inspections, and customs inspections — is clearly displayed with results (approved, conditional, rejected) and error codes. Error codes are translated into clear Danish ("worn brakes front left side") and prioritised.

    The next inspection date is automatically monitored. Red flags are shown 60, 30, and 7 days before expiry — so you don't end up with an illegal car in stock or a customer calling in a panic.

    Registration duty, road tax, and green ownership tax are retrieved directly from the Danish Motor Vehicles Agency. This is especially important for used car dealers who need to price correctly — and for customers who ask "how much does it cost in ownership tax?" without you having to look it up manually.

    Registration status (active, deregistered, exported) is also displayed. A deregistered car requires different paperwork handling than an active car — you'll discover this before the customer is in the showroom, not afterwards.

    The Land Registry is automatically checked for liens and registered rights. This is the mistake that costs the most if overlooked: a trade-in with a lien can, at worst, cost you the entire purchase price if the lien is not correctly redeemed.

    CARRUSLiNK marks liens with a red flag on the vehicle card and blocks closing the deal until the lien is addressed. It's a simple check, but it's not found in most spreadsheets and old systems — and it's one of the most common reasons dealers switch to us.

    Lovlighed, audit og GDPR

    Synsbasen is an official Danish data provider with agreements with the Danish Motor Vehicles Agency, the Danish Road Safety Agency, skat.dk, and the Land Registry. CARRUSLiNK collects data based on your commercial purpose (car sales), which is the legal basis.

    Personal data about owners is only provided in a limited form (typically owner-type and date), not full personal data — so GDPR exposure is minimal. All data is stored in the EU. Each lookup is logged in the audit log per user and per vehicle — so you can always document when and why you retrieved data.

    01.Is it directly from DMR or via Synsbasen?

    It goes through Synsbasen's comprehensive government data API, which is connected to DMR (Vehicle Registry), the Danish Road Safety Agency (inspections), the Danish Tax Agency (taxes), the Land Registry (liens), and skat.dk (tax authority). This is the shortest, legal way to collate vehicle data in Denmark.

    02.Why not connect directly to DMR?

    Because DMR alone doesn't give you inspection, tax, lien, or owner history in one go. Via Synsbasen you get everything in one lookup, with one agreement — instead of five separate government integrations.

    03.How up-to-date is the data?

    Live. We don't cache — each lookup hits the source via Synsbasen, so you always have the latest version on the vehicle card.

    Yes. The Land Registry is automatically queried per lookup, and liens are marked with a red flag on the vehicle card before deals can be closed.

    07.Hvad med biler uden dansk reg.nr.?

    VIN can also be used, as long as the car has been registered in Denmark. Imported cars without Danish history can be created manually.

    08.Er det GDPR-compliant?

    Yes. Synsbasen only provides limited owner information (type, date), and lookups are based on your commercial purpose. All data resides in the EU and is audit-logged per user.

    09.Can we see how many lookups we've made?

    Yes. The audit log shows all lookups per user, per vehicle, and per date — also for official and audit purposes.
