    Growth vs. 2025

In February 2026, Denmark set a new world record: 94.4% of all newly registered private cars were electric. The total EV market share reached 81.6%. Denmark is now the world's most electrified car market.

    Numbers from Mobility Denmark

According to Mobility Denmark and bilstatistik.dk, 9,736 new EVs were registered in February 2026. Among private buyers, almost all, 94.4%, chose a pure EV. Plug-in hybrids and petrol cars share the remaining 5.6%.

    What's driving it?

    • Political momentum, Tax reforms and green incentives make EVs competitive from day one.
    • Battery price drops, A 40% drop since 2022 makes EVs cheaper on TCO.
    • Charging infrastructure, Over 15,000 public charge points in Denmark.
    • Consumer preferences, Range anxiety is eliminated with 400–600+ km models.

    Implications for car dealers

When 94% of the private market is electric, the business model fundamentally changes:

    New opportunities in aftersales

    • Battery health certificates, Essential for used-EV sales.
    • Charge-station service, Installation, maintenance and advisory.
    • Software updates, Many EVs require authorised service.
    • Subscription models, Fixed monthly price replaces traditional service contracts.

CRM is the key to the EV transition

With fewer physical service touchpoints, digital customer care becomes critical. An industry CRM tracking battery health and automatic reminders isn't nice-to-have, it's survival.

    What should dealers do now?

    1. Build EV competencies, Certify technicians in high-voltage systems.
    2. Invest in digital customer care, Automate follow-up via CRM.
    3. Offer battery health data, Differentiate yourself with trustworthy battery reports.
    4. Reconfigure the workshop, Focus on tyres, brakes and climate systems.

Denmark leads the global EV revolution. For dealers who act now, it's a huge opportunity.
