# Vehicle return

> Vehicle return is the end of a lease, where the car is handed back and settled. A condition report is made, mileage is settled against the contract, abnormal wear is assessed and any additional charges are calculated. The car then moves on as an ex-lease unit for sale or re-leasing.

Return is the moment the customer relationship is either renewed or lost. A customer who hands back the car without a concrete offer on the next one has effectively been handed to a competitor.

Disputes almost always concern abnormal wear and excess mileage. A documented condition report with photos at both delivery and return removes most of the argument.

Operationally, three things must happen the same day: the car enters stock with a preparation task, the final settlement is sent, and the customer has an agreement on the next car.
