# Finance commission

> Finance commission is the fee a car dealer receives from a finance provider for arranging a car loan or a leasing agreement. It is normally calculated on the financed amount or on the interest margin, and paid once the agreement is approved and the car delivered.

For many dealers, commission on finance and insurance earns more than the margin on the car itself. Yet it is often tracked in spreadsheets and only discovered when the lender's settlement arrives.

That costs twice: you cannot see which salespeople actually arrange finance, and you never notice the agreements where commission was never settled.

Commission must be disclosed to the customer under the rules on credit intermediation, which makes a recorded agreement per deal both a revenue and a compliance task.
